Complementary techniques in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient technique belonging not only to ancient China but a heritage of the entire world. Relics have been found that testify to their use in ancient Egypt, Africa, Greece and it was a technique used a long time ago also in Italy. In China, however, cupping was practiced not only for its mechanical effect of detaching the tissues: in fact, it certainly acts on the musculoskeletal level, but also on the visceral and energetic one, warming, stimulating the free circulation of lymph, Qi and blood, eliminating pathogens and stagnation, stasis, and working on the connective and fascial system.

Cuppings

Cupping performed with plastic material and pumps that suck is not the real cupping, because it loses the fundamental part of heat that is the basis of cupping with glass cups. This technique, although sometimes leaving rather evident marks on the skin where the suction action has taken place, is not painful at all and gives a pleasant sensation of "melting" muscles or renewed blood circulation.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion

Moxibustion in China is called Jiu ("heat") and Fa ("burning grass"). It is a technique considered by some ancient Chinese doctors to be even more powerful than acupuncture. It exploits the extraordinary properties of mugwort, a plant that has been selected over the millennia for its excellence, and that is never used unless it has been dried and aged for at least 3 years, which ensures its action. Its dried and ground leaves release a particular odor, developing a moderate and penetrating heat on the skin, which reaches deep into the tissues. The therapeutic effect of mugwort is not only given by the heat but also by its smell and the substances developed by its smoke.

There are scientific studies that have demonstrated all the pharmacological and also radiant effects of Moxa: the thermal development of mugwort in fact produces very particular ultraviolet radiations that we are not yet able to reproduce with machinery. It is an absolutely painless technique and, indeed, rather pleasant precisely because of the sensation of heat that is applied to tissues that particularly need it.

Su Jok

Su Jok is a microsystem developed by Professor Park Jae Woo, a South Korean professor and researcher, around the 1980s. The Korean word Su means "hand" while the word Jok means "foot". Through this gentle and painless technique it is possible to resolve numerous painful symptoms quickly. The treatment can involve the use of very different materials, for example micro needles, moxa, seeds or other, with the common goal of exercising a stimulation of the points correctly identified by the operator, which thus stimulate a natural self-healing process in the body.

Su Jok

To give some examples, Su Jok allows you to give immediate relief in cases of toothache, lumbosciatica, migraines, joint or muscle pain, sprains, or to fight stress and tiredness, often with spectacular results and above all without resorting to drugs: being an absolutely natural method, it has no contraindications for the person, and can therefore be used in absolute safety even on particularly fragile people such as the elderly and children.

Auricolotherapy

Auricolotherapy

The use of ear stimulation techniques as a means to relieve pain or help resolve altered states of health is very ancient and dates back to different cultures, such as ancient Egypt. However, it is only following an initial mapping performed by the French reflexologist Paul Nogier, in the first half of the 1900s, that this branch also developed within Traditional Chinese Medicine, which thus rediscovered important ancient testimonies of its past, in texts and artifacts such as statuettes, paintings, etc. Thus was born an ear mapping useful not only in a psycho-neuro-endocrine-immunological sense, but also as a true alternative energetic medicine.

Although it is more effective in acute rather than chronic conditions, Auriculotherapy is indicated in cases of:

  • Pain: both traumatic and inflammatory in origin
  • Inflammations: of the respiratory tract, ENT, abdominal, pelvic
  • Allergies: rhinitis, asthma, urticaria
  • Functional disorders: dizziness, arrhythmias, intestinal dysfunctions, menstrual irregularities, nuresis, anxiety, insomnia, anorexia, overweight, libido disorders
  • Addictions: smoking, alcohol, drug addictions. There is a certified protocol from NADA (National Acupuncture Disintoxication Association) created in 1985 to spread the method in the USA and around the world: see official website

Benefits

The complementary techniques in Chinese Medicine act deeply on the body in toning or dispersion according to the needs of the person, both to energize the body systemically, acting in a targeted way on the meridians, and locally in the areas affected by musculoskeletal problems, of traumatic, rheumatic, arthritic and inflammatory origin.

To be used individually or jointly depending on the objective to be achieved and the person's condition, they are extraordinarily useful in cases of:

The complementary techniques in TCM can be perfectly integrated with massage techniques for the prevention or treatment of certain problems and fall within a general perspective of prevention of the person's state of well-being.

Warning - In any case, it is always advisable to seek the advice of a doctor to diagnose your disorder and get advice on the correct treatment to be performed.
